quartonian mixerMy quartonian mixer still gets a lot of downloads, I’m not sure exactly why that is because it’s pretty clunky in it’s current state. The latest Kineme quartz plugins would let me make it a lot easier to use if I used all those, eg adapt it to use the “Folder Movies” patch “Image With Composition” and “Global CC Midi”.

Does anyone still use Quartonian Mixer, anyone want to see a new version?

Personally I don’t use it since VDMX5 has now got such good quartz support but there might be some good uses for it I haven’t thought of. Please leave comments on here if you would like to see it updated to I can see if there is any demand.

I’d use it as I can’t afford VDMX5.

Yes i wanna see new version.
I use quartonian ! I think it very special :-)

I love your QuartzVSM cause it’s funky and simple. More simplicity for aspects of Qurtonian would be great too. Thanks

I’ve started looking at rewriting Quartonian Mixer. yeah simpler is on the cards. By using all the Kineme patches and some other tricks I now know I can definately make it both easier to user and easier to modify.

Glad you like VSM, it might get an update at some point as well. ;)

Hi Roger, I use a VSM based own app for my gigz, can i send it to you?
Thanks

sure, I’d always like to see any modified versions of VSM or quartonian which people are using.

can you put it on an FTP site or website for me to grab somewhere?

yes, ofcourse, I can send for You the download link via email, if You can give me Your email address :)

I still utilize quartonian, this is what technology is about. I’d like to see another Roger Bolton Update.

I use Quartonian Mixer on a weekly basis. It has been the backbone of hundreds of live performances now.

I’ve modified it quite heavily, most on the User Interface side of things. I’ve also introduce a few new “tricks”, such as being able to “scratch” the video in a primitive fashion, add Live Video Input via a Firewire-camera as if it was just another clip, and practical additions such as being able to “lock down” a bus so that you can leave something like a still up without risking knocking the mixer.

You’ve laid an incredible foundation on which to build. I’ve just upgraded to OS X Leopard and the new Quartz Composer looks very exciting; looking forward to seeing how I can take the VJ’ing “application” even further.

I’d like to see an updated version too. In terms of VJ soft, I’m one of the folks who can’t yet afford VDMX, although I certainly would love to be using it.

Free programs like your Quartonian Mixer offer ways for budding VJ’s such as myself to get experience and exposure, without the prerequisite of having the money for high-end tools. It’s a “hand up” from inside the industry that I think is a beautiful thing.

Also, providing a robust, current foundation for custom development shows a massive amount of maturity and capability on your part. For producing this tool, you make yourself a reference for the VJ community, and I think that is a beautiful thing too.

Something to say?
