SubscribeI’m not dead, just been stupidly busy with the summer festival season in the UK and I’m now more heavily involved as a core member of Inside-Us-All visuals which means I’m doing a lot more gigs. Glad to have been spending more time outside in this amazing UK summer instead of sitting behind a computer…. But while I’ve been out playing several people have started to do interesting work with the open source elements of Quartonian Mixer.
Simon Nielsen has been working on Quartonian Clip Manager, which is an open source core data based application that provides drag and drop thumbnails and clip management and then provides file paths to any Quartz Composer composition. Our aim is to provide a working example using Quartonian Mixer but this should be a huge benefit to any VJ wanting to construct custom QC patches that allow dynamic clip triggering.
We’re not ready to provide source code or a download for this just yet, but it’s coming soon.
Also, Ecume De Jours, who previously provided a full screen version of VSM stills manipulator has now posted source code to Quartz Composer Performer which provides a cocoa front end to Quartonian Mixer allowing drag and drop clip assignment and changing layouts and other options using pull down menus. It’s intended more as an example for developers to learn from rather than a practical front end to Quartonian Mixer but crucially it shows how to manage full screen output on the second display as well as other techniques of use to VJ developers.
