Quartonian Mixer 0.55 is now available for download. Features include preview seperate from main output, HD 720p support, and many other bugfixes and improvements. Grab it from the Download page.

Quartonian 055

Full release notes are included in the download zip file. One hilite, I’ve made a special version of the mixer that is optimised for HD 720p support. Mixing 720p is possible on an iMac G5 (but a bit slow) and it very fast and smooth on a Mac Book Pro.

Oh and the most important new feature, you get some bonus quicktimes of cows included…

At this point it’s getting ridiculous to add more features to Quartonian Mixer so this will be the last “composition only” release of Quartonian Mixer. Many things I’ve done can be done much more easily with just a few lines of Objective C and Cocoa bindings. I’m now concentrating on that side of it to add clip/load/save, bank management, saving screen arrangements and then looking at merging this with “Quartonian VAST”.

Whether these future products are open or closed source and free or commercial is undecided and will depend on the feedback I get from this version. I know there is many people out there using Quartonian but I get very little feedback. If you would like Quartonian to stay free and open source contact me, send pictures of your live performance, send ideas or even send your modified version which you’ve tweaked for your setup.

I am available to customise Quartonian for large multiscreen installations, custom screen layouts or other large video installations. If you need a custom version of Quartonian or another realtime video solution made using Quartz Composer contact me directly via email to discuss pricing for your requirements.

Check the “Eskatonia Visuals” page for all my contact and booking information.

Okay you see the problem here is Not the “power” of your tool.. It;’s more in how it’s used/..
I my self am trying to learn to code.. But it’s not going very fast..
The second thing is Of all of these vj apps there is a factory of the app looking like a developer made tool and not something for users ./..

Once again,, I throw myself on the line and ask to find a developer for ideas.. I can draw and edit and do graphic design , and know what I want in an app for UI design but can’t ever get it past a hard nosed coder …

Sooo my only real useful comment here is small.. Let me help you with UI design and it can become a great app… Otherwise I applaud your efforts but I have tried using this app in each editon but just can’t get past the interface..

sure send some interface ideas. Understand I am fully aware of the interface problems with Quartonian. The current interface is the best I can do with a mixer that runs entirely as a Quartz Composer composition. The next stage is adding a conventional interface in a seperate window. This has been my plan for a long time but I’m one guy doing this as a spare time project and it’s time consuming.

If you want instant ease of use you are better off going for Grid Pro, Modul8 or Motion Dive. My VJ app is not trying to compete with those, it’s strength that it’s much more flexible in terms of design of layers, supporting multi screen combinations and the ability to design your own effects chains in Quartz Composer. If that’s not what you’re into maybe this is not the right VJ program for you?

hello i’m japanese user.

i tried your app! It’s good!thanx!!
