Vidvox has just released the first beta version of their complete rewrite of Grid Pro as a fully native Cocoa application.
It’s already a Universal Binary and includes core image acceleration and filters. It’s fast, really really fast but the interface is very preliminary and it’s missing many features. This is a very early beta that still has a long way to go. The performance improvement over the MAX/MSP version of Grid Pro is staggering. On a 12″ ibook (1.33 Ghz G4 Radeon 9550) I can now do three layers of 640×480 Quicktimes. The previous version choked on two layers.
Well done to Vidvox, it’s great for Mac OS X VJ’s that we will now have two fully native intel VJ applications within a few months (Grid Pro and Modul8)
