I’ve just been made aware of a Video player plugin for Ableton Live thanks to this thread on the VJ Forums..
It’s widely suspected that Ableton Live 6 will include synchronised audio video play back capability, until then this little plugin available for Windows or Mac may well be of use to those interested in AV sets. I suspect that the video playback and effects capabilities inside Ableton will always be secondary: VJ’s who’s primary focus is video will always want to use a second program connected to Ableton but for providing a beat synced back layer to do visuals on top of this could work very well.
I’m not sure yet if this plugin allows full screen output on the second display, will attempt to test this plugin this weekend and update later. Also very interested if this will play Quartz Composer clips as movies, but since it’s Quicktime based no reason why it shouldn’t.
