SubscribeAccording to info from Pol 10.4.4 included ability to change fonts dynamically when rendering in Quartz Composer and several other bug fixes and improvements. Also the new Quartz Composer is already native on intel and the new iMac’s are ‘very fast’ for Quartz Composer.
The dynamic font changing is worth the price of admission alone!
Detailed change list for 10.4.4 Quartz Composer:
- Image with string now has a “Font Name” parameter
- All numeric fields in the editor accept math formulas e.g. 4*sin(30.2)
- Inspector panes keyboard shortcuts ([Cmd]-1, [Cmd]-2…)
- Patch text is not vertically inverted anymore when drag & dropping
- Auto line indentation in program text editor
- Create Macro Patch from selected patches should now always work as
expected
- Image Downloader doesn’t throw exceptions on double-downloads
- Folder Images now sees images with either lowercase or uppercase
extensions
- Fixed a crasher in JavaScript
- Fixed an initialization issue in JavaScript scripts
- Image Download now respects size constraints as defined in Settings
pane
- Render in Image now work correctly inside an iterator
- NSImages passed to QC do not lose their color profile anymore (as
it used to do in some cases)
- JavaScript patch not writing to output variables correctly
- Fixed a hang that could happen when editing an Index port in the UI
- Image with Movie now outputs a frame on first execution
- Video capture now deinterlaces in high-quality mode
- Dead keys are not generating exceptions anymore in Keyboard patch
- Image With Movie has improved color management
- QCView now paint itself with its erase color when the OpenGL
surface is not around (instead of being plain white)
Some changes that might affect your compositions:
- Fixed Range patch in roll-over mode to produce expected results
- Billboard now does subpixel-positioning in both normal and Direct
CI modes
- Fixed a bug in Replicate in Space where instances positions were
incorrect (especially, last instance, was not where it was expected)
New patches:
- Quartz Composer Info, which essentially returns the version of the
current QC, so you can do some logic with that info within the
composition
