For those with ATI Radeon video cards, installing the optional drivers from ATI will enable some very useful options including 4x Full Scene Anti Aliasing (supersampling).
Grab the driver via this link from Mac Update
This driver now works on all model mac’s with Radeons even powerbooks, mac mini’s or ibooks.
Now launch the ATI Displays program. Go to 3D and add a custom application setting for Quartz Composer. Enable FSAA and set it to 2x or 4x. If you are doing any rendering of 3D geometry including video wrapped around spheres or cubes this will make a big diffference to your rendering quality.
This ability is supported in most recent Radeon cards in hardware so in most cases it will not slow down your scene.
Why oh why doesn’t Apple fully support their own hardware and enable this in the default drivers?
