Quartonian was hacked

Posted by roger on May 9th, 2008

Invisible links to poker/pharmacies etc were inserted. Has happened to many others, I’m in the process of trying to clean it up now, and then hope to return with some new QC related news and tutorials. Sorry for any problems caused to anyone by the content inserted in my site without my knowledge…

extras in Leopard QC

Posted by roger on October 27th, 2007

It’s out and it’s good. So many new features in Leopard QC that it should take us all weeks to just get to grips with them all. Here’s some things that are not so obvious to give you even more to play with.

On hold, back to India

Posted by roger on September 5th, 2007

My updating work for Quartonian is on hold as I am currently working freelance as VFX Supervisor on a high end tv commercial in India for Red Ice Films until end of September.

Does anyone want an updated Quartonian Mixer?

Posted by roger on August 19th, 2007

quartonian mixerMy quartonian mixer still gets a lot of downloads, I’m not sure exactly why that is because it’s pretty clunky in it’s current state. The latest Kineme quartz plugins would let me make it a lot easier to use if I used all those, eg adapt it to use the “Folder Movies” patch “Image With Composition” and “Global CC Midi”.

Does anyone still use Quartonian Mixer, anyone want to see a new version?

Personally I don’t use it since VDMX5 has now got such good quartz support but there might be some good uses for it I haven’t thought of. Please leave comments on here if you would like to see it updated to I can see if there is any demand.

VeeYou Quartz Fx now available

VU

Grab them here, scroll down and ignore the top bit, you don’t need to install anything else to get them to work, just wanted to put them on the same page as the FCP plugins.

Kineme: Developers of qc plugins

Posted by roger on August 15th, 2007

Kineme
Kineme has been active for a long time delving into the unofficial api to expand Quartz Composer in Tiger. They’ve now setup a new website Kineme.net and are actively promoting themselves as consultants / developers for all things Quartz Composer. I’ve used their services and was very happy with the result, highly recommend them if you’re looking at doing something with Quartz Composer and need a node which isn’t there yet.

They’ve also made a bunch of new plugins available already under the MIT license including a very handy “Folder Movies” Patch. I think this was just about the most requested feature ever for Tiger QC.

CoreMelt fx launched

Posted by roger on May 20th, 2007

CoreMelt fx is the new home for my fx packs made in Quartz Composer. CoreMelt’s first pack of plugins, ImageFlow fx is currently in late beta and will be available very soon. Information and videos demonstrating the pack are now on the CoreMelt site.

Round up of QC plugins

Posted by roger on May 13th, 2007

Since Leopard has been delayed to October we still don’t have an official way of creating new nodes in Quartz Composer. That’s not stopping plenty of people from creating one’s using the undocumented unofficial API and in fact FDIV.net has just published an X Code template to make the whole process easier. Here’s a list of ones I’ve found, please contact me if you have made any more.

FxFactory wins Vidy Best of Show Award 2007!

Posted by roger on April 20th, 2007

The Noise Industries FxFactory plugins have been awarded a Vidy award by the Editors of Videography magazine. See the complete list of winners here. I designed 80 of the 140 effects in the FxFactory Pro Pack, but of course it wouldn’t have been possible to create the product without the work of Gabe and Niclas from Noise Industries. Other winners of the “Best of Show” award this year include the Red One digital camera and Final Cut Studio 2, so I feel pretty privileged that we are ranked up there with those products.

NAB 2007

Posted by roger on April 13th, 2007

Just settling back into the UK after my extended trip back to native Australia, and now off again to Las Vegas for NAB. I’ve been working on new effects packs for Noise Industries which will be shown for the first time at NAB and then available for sale shortly afterwards. “ImageFlow Fx”, will be a pack of ten plugins for creating animated backgrounds from folders of still images. As well as this more new effects have been added to the Motion and Editing packs to bring them to 40 plugins each. If anyone’s at NAB we’ll be at the plugin pavillion booth SL3827J. I’ll be happy to try and answer any general Quartz Composer questions as well as demonstrating the Noise Industries plugins.

Anxiously awaiting Leopard QC…

Posted by roger on January 8th, 2007

Not so much time for Quartonian website as I’ve been working on future versions of the Noise Industries plugins and playing with some very cool stuff from Vidvox (which isn’t public yet). It’s nice to be earning some money with QC work.

But this blog ain’t dead. I’ll be posting up some info about the new Quartz Composer features in Leopard and the potential uses for VJ’s and others as soon as we’re publically aloud to talk about it, which is presumably next week after SF Macworld. (Jan 9th-12th).
